When people are looking for high-end lifestyles and lavish homes in which to live them, they regularly look to Silicon Valley and its pristine neighborhoods that are unparalleled virtually anywhere in the United States. This section within the San Francisco Bay Area has long been known for offering some of the country’s most expensive homes. FORBES.com confirmed this. FORBES found that during 2013, Atherton’s top-priced home was offered for $33 million. Of course, one doesn’t need $33 million to get into this exclusive community. A mere $1.2 million (in 2013) would have got you into a 1,194-square-foot bungalow with two bedrooms.
During the summer last year, the median price of single-family homes in Atherton’s 94027 zip code was $6.67 million. That was enough to place 94027 as America’s most expensive zip code.
