Silicon Valley's Best Holiday Light Displays


Viewing festive holiday lights of the season throughout Silicon Valley is one of my favorite pastimes and I am excited to be able to take my daughter this year! Here are some of the best, glittering wonders to see:

Christmas Tree Lane
Palo Alto

Fulton Street between Embarcadero Avenue and Seale Road
Dec. 16 to Dec. 31
5 pm - 11 p.m.
Begun in 1940, this annual celebration is a Palo Alto classic tradition - not to be missed!

Peninsula Light Show
San Carlos

1900 block of Eucalyptus Avenue
nightly through Dec. 25
True 1950’s neighborhood celebration with holiday lights, carols, fire pits

35th Annual Downtown San Jose Christmas in the Park*
San Jose
Plaza de Cesar Chavez, 5 Market Street
Runs through January 25th
This magical winter wonderland runs through the month of December.  
60’ Tall Community Giving Tree plus holiday displays, elf workshop, candy mice and daily entertainment
*Annual Toys for Tots Stuff the Box  12/9  9-5
Collection of toys for US Marine Reserves at Christmas in the Park
If you can’t make it 12/9, bins for toys will be available daily at Market St.

Wonderful light displays - Santa shooting hoops, pirates, penguins, etc. plus accompanying music through your car stereo

Classic Cable Car Holiday Lights
San Francisco
Departs from Fisherman’s Wharf
Runs through December 30th (except Dec 25th)
$39/person and includes Santa hat
Tour lasts approx. 80 minutes; bring camera and blankets

Fishermans Wharf Lighted Boat Parade
San Francisco

December 15th
6 pm - 8 pm
The decorated boats starting point is at Pier 39 times and makes it way down to Crissy Field, passing the Marina Green, and Aquatic Park. 

Ice Skating Under the Lights
San Francisco
Union Square ice rink, 333 Post Street,
