LOS ALTOS

Los Altos began developing in 1906, when a railroad executive formed the Altos Land Company.  Finally incorporated in 1952, Los Altos today is known for its upscale homes, tree-lined streets, year-round excellent weather and eclectic shopping venues.  It is home to 29,000 residents. Nestled in between Palo Alto, Mountain View, Loyola and Portola Valley, Los Altos is one of the more affluent bedroom communities in the United States.  The economy here isn’t as tech-based as many other cities within Silicon Valley, with top employers being the Los Altos School District, Los Altos High School, Whole Foods Market and Coldwell Banker.

Education is important to parents who live here, and the K-12 schools are ready to provide top-flight learning opportunities.  For example, Georgina P. Blach Intermediate School and Los Altos High School were both honored in 2013 as a California Distinguished School.  Students throughout the district regularly score in the top 10 percent on state standardized tests.

With a heavy focus on “going green,” Los Altos provides the perfect mix of luxury living, year-round events and clean, quiet neighborhoods, with plenty of additional excitement in neighboring San Jose, America’s 10th largest city.  And don’t forget San Francisco, just 40 miles north, where you can leave your heart, but for growing a wonderful lifestyle, there’s no place better than Los Altos.
